Basketball is a demanding sport. Just ask LeBron James, Steph Curry, or any NBA player logging 30-plus minutes a night. The cuts, jumps, pivots, and collisions that make the game so exciting also put tremendous stress on the body. From twisted ankles to strained shoulders, injuries are part of the game. But they don’t have to end your season.
Your Whole Body Is in Play
Most people think of chiropractic care as something for back pain. And while spinal adjustments are absolutely at the heart of what we do, basketball players need more than that. We regularly adjust extremities too, including ankles, wrists, and shoulders, because the game puts stress on every joint in your body. When those joints are aligned and moving freely, your body can do what it was designed to do.
We want every athlete who walks through our door to leave feeling better and ready to compete. Our job is to remove the interference so their body can heal and perform the way God designed it to,” says Kernersville chiropractor Dr. Craig Hensley.
Getting You Back on the Court or Field
One of our favorite parts of this work is helping athletes beat the clock. We recently worked with a high school football player who suffered a hip injury during the season. His trainers weren’t confident he’d be ready to play the following week. After working with him at our office, he not only suited up, he played pain-free and had a great game.
That kind of outcome isn’t a miracle. It’s what happens when you address the root cause of an injury instead of just managing symptoms.
Beyond adjustments, we often use kinesiology taping to provide support to injured areas and help the body move with more confidence. We also help patients find the right bracing when needed, so recovery doesn’t mean sitting on the sidelines any longer than necessary.
Prevention Is Part of the Plan
The best time to see a chiropractor isn’t just when something goes wrong. Regular chiropractic care helps basketball players (and all types of athletes) maintain the mobility, balance, and nervous system function that give them a competitive edge. When your spine and joints are functioning at 100%, your reaction time, coordination, and endurance all benefit.
Whether you’re a weekend rec league player or a student athlete with college scouts in the stands, your body deserves the same care and attention as any other part of your game.
