Chiropractic Care is Different from Medicine

Chiropractic care is different from medicine.  This is something that is very important for chiropractic patients to understand. Chiropractic care is unique because it is the only profession that evaluates the body for spinal subluxations and then treats them through specific scientific chiropractic adjustments.  The goal of a specific scientific chiropractic adjustment is to reduce nervous system interference and allow your body to self-heal and to function at 100%.

One way chiropractic care is different from medicine, is chiropractic care is not about taking care of symptoms.  Many people first seek chiropractic care to alleviate pain.  However, as the chiropractor my goal is find the dysfunction in the body and restore the body to its proper function.  For example many times when people will go to their family doctor for back pain they are prescribed muscle relaxers for muscle spasms.  In most cases the patient does have muscle spasms, but the question is why are the muscles in spasm?  Muscle spasms are often due to a subluxated vertrebra in the low back that causes interference to the nerves of the low back that control the muscles, causing them to spasm as a way to protect the spine from further damage. The muscle relaxer goes against the body’s own protective mechanism and never treats the underlying issue so the body can heal.  However, specific scientific chiropractic care addresses the cause of the problem and by correcting the cause the muscle spasms will go away.  Chiropractic is about finding the cause of your problem, not treating the symptoms of it.

Another way chiropractic is different, is that chiropractic is not an aspirin.  What I mean is chiropractic is not something that is only utilized when there is pain.  Subluxations are caused by stress.  Our bodies are affected by physical, chemical, and emotional stress every single day and that stress causes subluxations.  When a subluxation first occurs there are typically no symptoms.  The symptoms show up after the underlying weakness has been there for a while.  This means you should be checked by your chiropractor on a regular basis for the correction of subluxations, not just when you have a pain.

Chiropractic care is amazing and unique.  We treat the entire body to find the underlying cause of your problem.  Our goal is for you to have 100% optimal health, not just to treat your aches and pains.  If you are ready to try something different, please call Triad Family Chiropractic at 336-904-0752 to set up your first appointment today.  You will not be disappointed and your body will thank you.
