October is Chiropractic Month

Do you know what October is?  In North Carolina October is Chiropractic Month.  Governor Pat McCrory signed a proclamation that October is Chiropractic month.

In his proclamation Governor McCrory gave many statements raving about the importance of chiropractic in the health care system and the expertise of chiropractors.  He stated:

“Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) are physician level providers who focus on the whole person in their conservative approach to heath care, and have particular expertise in the prevention, care and rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeletal injuries and conditions; and
Whereas, Doctors of Chiropractic are educated in nationally accredited, four-year doctoral graduate school programs through a curriculum that includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory and clinical internship, with the average DC program equivalent in classroom hours to allopathic and osteopathic medical schools; and
Whereas, Doctors of Chiropractic are recognized worldwide for their pain-relieving, health enhancing and injury-prevention services;”

This statement very clearly sums up the value of chiropractic for everyone.  We treat patients of all ages from new-borns, children, teenagers, adults, and elderly patients.  Our goal is to treat the whole person to find the true cause of their issues and to help them reach their optimum health without drugs or surgery.  Chiropractic is great at relieving pain and preventing future injuries.

He also touched on our education.   Many people do not realize it but chiropractors are required to have a 4 year degree and then attend 4 years of chiropractic school. While in chiropractic school we take many classes similar to that of medical and osteopathic schools.  The major difference in education is that while the allopathic curriculum teaches pharmacology, the chiropractic curriculum teaches the skill and art of adjusting the spine.

So have you visited your chiropractor lately?  Or have you ever been to a chiropractor?  If the answer is no to both questions please call Triad Family Chiropractic today to make an appointment to have your spine checked.  It is an investment in your health and Chiropractic Month is a great time to get started with your chiropractic care.

If you live in Kernersville, Winston-Salem, High Point, Walkertown, Greensboro or other surrounding areas call 336-904-0752 to get started.

Which Doctor Should I See First?

A new patient called the other day and asked, “I have back pain, do I need to see my medical doctor to be diagnosed and then ask if they will refer me to you?”  Over the past few weeks I have received very similar questions from multiple patients.  The simple answer is “No”.  You do not need to see your medical doctor first, but let me break down the question and explain why.

First, do you need to be diagnosed before coming to see a chiropractor?  Chiropractors are trained doctors.  It is our job to evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal problems.  Every patient that comes into the office is examined thoroughly before any treatment is performed.  The exam includes your health history, vital signs, orthopedic testing, neurological testing, and chiropractic testing.  After the exam, if needed, x-rays are taken in the office.  The purpose of the exam and x-rays is to give the doctor as much information as possible to make a proper diagnosis of your problem and determine the best way to treat your issue and help you regain your optimal health.

Second, do you need a referral?  In most cases, you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor.  There are very few instances in which you would need a referral, and these are usually due to a few specific insurance policies.  You can call our office or walk in anytime to make your appointment without a referral from another doctor.

Finally, anytime you consult a doctor, you want to know who is going to give you the best outcome.  Chiropractic is a natural, non-surgical, and drugless way to treat your problems.  A recent article I read state that “spinal, hip, and shoulder pain patients had clinically similar pain relief, greater satisfaction levels, and lower overall cost if they initiated care with doctors of chiropractic, when compared with those who initiated care with medical doctors.”  A link to the article is found below.

So if you are looking for pain relief, greater satisfaction, and lower cost with your healthcare, please call Triad Family Chiropractic at 336-904-0752 today, to schedule your first visit.  We are conveniently located in Kernersville, NC a short drive from Winston Salem, Walkertown, High point, and Greensboro.
